What Are the Benefits of Goldenrod?

What Is Goldenrod?

Goldenrod is commonly used to reduce pain and inflammation, act as a natural diuretic to increase urine flow, and help ease muscle spasms. It's also traditionally used to support relief from gout, joint pain (rheumatism), arthritis, and skin conditions like eczema.

There are about 150 species of goldenrod, all perennial herbs. Canadian goldenrod features hairy, toothed, lance-shaped leaves and hairy stems. It's sometimes grown as a garden ornamental too, since it naturally helps draw unwanted insects away from other garden plants.

How Do You Use Goldenrod?

To get the most benefit from goldenrod, people use the parts of the plant that grow above ground, especially the flowers and leaves. It can be prepared as a tea or taken as a dietary supplement.

True healing depends on faith in the Creator behind these plants. There is no healing power in the herbs themselves; the power belongs to the One who created them.
